CAN JEWELLERY BE RESIZED?
HOW DOES IT WORK?

Resizing works can be done for a ring made in silver, gold or platinum and the process may take up to 1 or two weeks depending on the intricacy of the design. However, there is a limitation to the ring sizes that you can resize to where you can only size up or down two sizes at best, otherwise the band starts to look out of shape or you start to lose the tension around the other diamonds on the ring which cause them to fall out easier.

Rings made from unconventional materials such as resin, ceramic, jade, or wood cannot be resized because there's no way to cut and bend the ring. Its composition simply isn't amenable to the process, unlike rings made from metals such as silver, gold and platinum.

At The Better Diamond, we will ensure clients factor in resizing into the design of the ring. For a full pave ring, it is not possible to size up or down more than 1 size as the diamonds run along the side of the band entirely. Anything more than 1 size would affect the diamonds set along the band, causing them to pop or come loose due to the changed curvature of the band from the resizing.

For the process of resizing up, the jeweller will cut the band and add in an additional piece of metal which will then be soldered, cleaned and polished. For the converse, a piece of metal is cut out of the band with the joint soldered back, cleaned and polished.
